SDRL Michigan Recap

100 laps was the distance for SDRL at Michigan for the B.A.C. Casting and Drafting In-season tournament Finale! Starting on pole was the #40 Hollywood Performance Ford of Keith Fallin! Unluckily for Keith it was the highlight of his night at Michigan. In Stage 1 he quickly lost the lead to the #1 Chilli’s Ride the Dente Chevrolet of SCARY Terry VIncent. As Terry breezed away to the Stage One win, the action on track didn’t lack behind him! We saw a battle for the top 5 between Nolan McClurg, Tyler Smith, the Youngster Bryce Keegan, and the pole-sitter Keith Fallin. Stage #1 Finishing order was: 1st: Terry Vincent, 2nd: Keith Fallin, 3rd: Tyler Smith, 4th: Bailey Brannan, 5th: Daniel Jackson, 6th: Bryce Keegan, 7th: Chris Mackey, 8th: Bryan Matthews, 9th: Nolan McClurg, 10th: Tyler Cadd. Stage Two got started with the #4 Hollywood performance Ford of Daniel Miglin at the point and the #89 Ford of Dennis Orf alongside him in out front. After the Drivers took the green, the Hollywood Performance squad continued to show their speed out front. As they drivers raced on, we saw an epic battle between Nolan McClurg, Tyler Smith and Austin Norris for the 3rd spot. Terry Vincent, who had a slow stop after stage 1, worked his way towards the front. As the #4 of Miglin fell to the back with some issues, he made contact with the #28 of Bryan Matthews bringing out our first caution of the day! On the 11 to go restart off of turn two, we saw a bit of Iracing net code effect cars #1 of Terry Vincent and In-Season Tournament Finale driver #18 Danny Jackson, bringing out our second unscheduled caution of the day. On the 6 to go restart of Stage #2 we saw the #57 Skye Motorsports Driver Austin Norris at the point, behind him off turn two, the #89 of Orf and #4 of Miglin got caught in a 3-wide door slammin crash. Gifting Austin Norris the Stage Win! Stage Two Results were: 1st Austin Norris, 2nd Keith Fallin, 3rd Bailey Brannan, 4th Tyler Cadd, 5th Chris Mackey, 6th Michael Prince, 7th Jaymin Bernhardt, 8th Daniel Miglin, 9th Bryce Keegan, and 10th Steven Blevins rounding out the point scorers. Stage #3 began with the #23 Hi-Line Racing Toyota of Tyler Smith at the point. After Pitting on the last caution before the stage 2 break, he gambled track position and opted not to pit at the break. Smith highlighted his saving and race-craft at the point! Staying ahead of the cinematic battle between Micheal Prince, Keith Fallin, and Nolan McClurg. As the laps continued to wind down, Terry Vincent wasted no time driving through the top 10 to reclaim the top spot before the green flag stops! On Pit road, we saw trouble for the #16 of Nolan McClurg, missing his stall and losing time to the leaders. After Pit Stops, we saw Tyler Smith, Bryce Keegan, Keith Fallin, Micheal Prince, and Terry Vincent in the top 5 with 23 to go. After a hard fought battle, Terry Vincent made an impressive dive to the bottom of turn four to reclaim the lead from Tyler Smith! As we closed out the race, all eyes shifted to the in-season tournament battle between Danny Jackson and Micheal Prince. The #31 GM Goodwrench just had the better all around night over Danny Jackson. Securing him as the in-season tournament Champion and SCARY Terry Vincent earned his 2nd win of the season!
