Austin Norris Wins the High Proof Showdown

The HighProof Showdown Recap:

Daryl Young Jr. had a strong showing in the qualifying for BAC’s 1st ever Special Event: The High Proof Showdown presented by Harpoon Design. He opted in for the “Double Down Bonus to try and claim a $250 cash prize. He would have to sweep the stage and the race in order to win BIG.

Stage 1 was a 25 lap dash between the field of 28 drivers across the High Banks of Talladega Superspeedway. We saw Brantley Roden, Daryl Young Jr, Aubrey Thompson, and others swapping the lead in the action packed opening of the race. As time dwindled down in the early stage, there was a multicar crash with 2 laps to go in the stage with multiple drivers involved. Primarily, it ended the Night for Terry Vincent and gave some major damage to our other drivers. Daryl Young Jr. kept his bonus hopes alive with the stage win. Now he just needed to complete the race with a win to become $250 richer.

As stage number 2 was underway, it was a caution filled battle all the way to the end. Multiple drivers began bump and bang and the damage tacked on. Petr Smetana was one of the notable favorites that was in the wreckage. Daryl Young Jr remained a heavy favorite as well as Jesse Becker leading the charge towards the end of the race. We saw Dennis Orf work his way to the front of the field and lead some laps in the Missouri State Trooper Paint replica which was a BAC fan favorite in our Youtube comment Section. On the Final lap, Thompson and Young Jr led the field down the Alabama gang super stretch off of turn number 2 a majority of the field was involved in the BIG one, ending their chances at victory lane. Into turn 3 the leaders got disconnected and more drivers began going up into the outside wall. It was Austin Norris who emerged first from the wreckage off of turn number 4 to claim his victory in the High Proof Showdown. Danny Jackson was 2nd, Daryl Young Jr. finished 3rd, and James Jabokowski was the biggest mover of the night!
